This section will show you how to install your MyGo software and how to connect to it over the network.
A standard Windows Installer (.msi) file is provided to install the software on Microsoft Windows. This can be found in the software folder on the supplied USB drive.
First, run the installer file by double clicking on it
Read the displayed licence agreement, and then select the I accept the terms in the Licence Agreement radio button. Now click the Next > button to continue:
The next dialog gives the option of performing a Default installation, or a Custom installation. The default installation will install to the commonly used applications folder on your system. If you would like to customise this location then click the Custom button.
Once you’re ready, click install to continue.
The dialog will display the progress of installation, which should take a few minutes. When the installation is complete, the following dialog is displayed:
The software is now installed - click Finish to close the dialog. You can now run the software using the Start Menu or the icon on your desktop.
Uninstalling the software
Uninstalling the software follows a similar process to installing it. First, run the “MyGo.msi” file by double clicking on it:
If the software is already installed, the installer will display a dialog with a Remove icon. Click this Remove icon:
The installer will display a notice confirming that you would like to proceed with removal of the software, click the Remove button at the bottom of the window to proceed.
The installer will now remove the application and support files. When this is complete, another window is displayed:
Click the Finish button to complete uninstallation.
If you have saved experiments or other files to your disk, you must delete them separately.
Launching the software
Before launching the software, you must install it to your PC, using the instructions given in the Installation section.
The software can be launched in three ways:
The installer creates a shortcut on your desktop which can be double clicked to launch the software:
The installer also creates a MyGo Pro folder in your Start Menu - navigate to this folder, open it, and click the MyGo Pro entry to launch the software:
Additionally, you may wish to launch the software directly by using a file browser to navigate to the installation location you chose in the installer (by default, “C:\Program Files (x86)\MyGo Pro”), and then double-click the MyGo.exe executable:
When the software launches, you will see a splash screen, and then the main window of the software.
Mac OS X
The MyGo software is supplied in a standard Disk Image format (a .dmg file).
First, locate this file on the supplied USB drive using the Finder:
Now double-click on the file to mount the disk image. This will display the license agreement for the software:
Read the license agreement, then click “Agree” to accept the agreement and proceed with installing the software. You will now see a Finder window with the MyGo software:
If you do not see this window, look on your desktop for a volume icon for the software - double clicking this will open the window:
To install the software, just move the mouse over the MyGo icon. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon over the top of the Applications folder. A green “+” icon will appear to indicate that you are about to copy the software to your Applications folder. Release the left mouse button, and the software will be installed.
If you already the software already installed, then a prompt will appear to ask if you want to replace the installed version of the software:
Click Replace to replace the old version.
Instructions for launching the software, and creating a shortcut to it on the Dock are given below in the section on Launching the Software.
Uninstalling the Software
To uninstall the software, simply open your Applications folder, and drag the “MyGo” icon to your wastebasket. This process is exactly the same as for deleting any other file. If you have saved experiments or other files to your disk, or copied demo experiments from the installation disk, you must delete them separately.
Launching the Software
Before launching the software, you must install it to your Mac, using the instructions given in the Installing the Software section. The software can be launched in several ways:
During installation, the MyGo app was added to your Applications folder. Use the Finder to navigate to this folder in the normal way, and then double click the MyGo app to launch the software:
To access the MyGo app more quickly, it can be dragged from the Applications folder to the Dock. Move the mouse over the MyGo app, and hold down the mouse button. Drag the app until it is over the Dock at the bottom of the screen, and release the mouse button to add the icon to the Dock. Now the icon in the Dock can be clicked to launch the software:
Finally, the MyGo application can be launched using Spotlight. Hold the command key, and press the space key.
The Spotlight input box will be displayed in the top right of the screen - just type MyGo to search for the application. Click the entry in the list to launch the application (or just press enter if it is already highlighted):
When the software launches, you will see the main window, and the MyGo icon will appear in the Dock.
